12 Words That Changed Everything

Power of prayer and following through

A Morning Reflection

Recently, I sent a message to my team asking them to pray for one of our remote workers. She is pregnant and currently in the hospital with Dengue Fever Syndrome. Her platelet count has dropped so low that she may need a blood transfusion.

After I hit send, something struck me. I began wondering how many people might respond with “Praying for her,” but never actually stop to pray.

And to be honest, I’ve done it too. Not out of bad intentions, but simply because life moves quickly and good intentions often fade into forgotten tasks.

Not anymore. I have made it a point to stop what I’m doing and pray on the spot, or within a few minutes. Because if I do not, I likely never will. And that matters.

The Twofold Power of Prayer

Prayer is not just a polite reply. It’s not a spiritual obligation or a feel-good gesture.

Prayer is real. It moves the heart of God. It changes outcomes. It shifts atmospheres.

Prayer invites Heaven into our reality. It realigns our focus, reaffirms our faith, and calls on the One who can do what no one else can.

When we say, “I’m praying for you,” it should never be empty words. It should be a declaration of action. A moment where we step into spiritual authority and connect directly with our Creator on someone else’s behalf.

And that changes things.

A Simple Story, A Powerful Reminder

I was reminded of this truth recently when I heard Lee Strobel share a powerful story in his book, The Case for Miracles.

It’s the story of Barbara Snyder, a woman diagnosed with progressive multiple sclerosis.

Her condition had deteriorated to the point of no return. She was legally blind in one eye, her body was curled up and paralyzed, and she relied on a breathing tube. Hospice had been called in, and doctors agreed there was no hope for recovery.

One of her friends sent a prayer request to a radio station. That request went out across the airwaves, and hundreds of people responded.

In fact, over 450 prayer requests were sent to her church. Complete strangers, united in faith, called out to God for healing.

12 Words That Changed Everything

One day, Barbara heard a voice say clearly in her spirit, “My child, get up and walk in the name of Jesus Christ.”

And she did.

Right then and there, she sat up, removed her oxygen tubes, stood on her feet, and walked across the room.

The twisted feet that had been unusable for years straightened out. Her vision returned. Her breathing normalized. Her body was healed — instantly.

Barbara’s healing shocked everyone. Her doctors had no explanation. Lee Strobel personally verified the story by interviewing Barbara, her physicians, and witnesses, and reviewing her extensive medical history.

Her healing wasn’t temporary. Decades later, she remains fully restored.

What That Means for Us

This story is not just a moment of encouragement. It’s a wake-up call.

When we say we will pray, let’s actually do it. Because prayer isn’t just symbolic, it is supernatural.

You may not always see an immediate miracle, but you can be certain that something happens every time you truly pray.

I never want to offer empty promises again. So now, I speak the 12 words that changed everything:
“I am praying for you right now, in the name of Jesus.”
