Prayers for Anxiety
Anxiety can flood the mind, steal peace, and leave you feeling overwhelmed. This page is here to help you pray biblically when fear rises, thoughts race, and your heart feels unsettled. These prayers are rooted in Scripture and meant to point you back to the Lord, who invites you to bring every burden to Him.
What the Bible Says About Anxiety
The Bible does not ignore fear, worry, or heaviness of heart. Scripture speaks directly to anxious thoughts and calls believers to bring those burdens to God instead of carrying them alone. That does not mean every struggle disappears instantly, but it does mean the Lord invites you to come to Him honestly and continually.
Biblical prayer in anxiety is not pretending everything is fine. It is bringing your mind, emotions, fears, and uncertainty before God and asking Him for peace, help, wisdom, and strength. Prayer is not denial. It is dependence.
If your anxiety is intense, persistent, or affecting your ability to function, do not isolate. Prayer matters, and wise support matters too. Seek help from trusted biblical counsel and appropriate care while continuing to bring your burdens to the Lord.

Prayers for Anxiety
When anxious thoughts will not stop
Lord, my mind feels crowded and restless. My thoughts keep running, and I feel tired from carrying this weight. I bring my anxiety before You because I do not want fear to rule my mind. Please quiet the noise within me and help me fix my thoughts on what is true. Teach me to cast every care upon You instead of replaying every fear in my own strength. Guard my heart and mind through Christ Jesus, and help me trust that You are near even when I feel unsettled. In Jesus’ name, amen.
When you feel overwhelmed
Father, everything feels heavy right now. I feel stretched thin, mentally drained, and unsure how to carry what is in front of me. Please strengthen me where I am weak. Help me not to live in panic or dread, but in dependence on You. Give me wisdom for the next step, peace for the present moment, and grace for what I cannot control. Remind me that You are with me, You will help me, and I do not have to carry this alone. In Jesus’ name, amen.
When anxiety keeps you up at night
Lord, as I lie here, my heart is uneasy and my thoughts are active. I ask You for peace in this moment. Please calm my mind, settle my body, and help me rest under Your care. I release to You the things I cannot fix tonight. I give You the fears about tomorrow, the unfinished burdens, and the pressure I feel. Let Your peace keep my heart and mind, and help me trust You one moment at a time. In Jesus’ name, amen.
When you are afraid of the future
God, I am worried about what is ahead. I do not know how things will turn out, and uncertainty is making me anxious. Please keep me from living in fear of tomorrow. Help me trust You with what I cannot see. Give me faith for today and obedience for the step in front of me. Remind me that You are already in the future I fear, and nothing takes You by surprise. Help me walk with You instead of being ruled by what might happen. In Jesus’ name, amen.
A short prayer for immediate peace
Lord Jesus, I feel anxious right now. Please steady my heart, calm my thoughts, and help me trust You. I bring this fear to You and ask for Your peace. Help me remember that You care for me and are with me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
How to Keep Praying When Anxiety Stays
Pray honestly, not impressively
Say what is true. God already knows what is happening in your heart.
Use Scripture in your prayer
Read a verse slowly, then turn it into prayer in your own words.
Focus on the next step, not every step
Anxiety often drags the mind into the future. Ask God for grace for today.
Do not isolate
Bring trusted believers into the struggle. Prayer is personal, but it was never meant to be lonely.
